MAKING ITS MARK IN THE MOUNTAINS

The Saddle and Cleats Company was formed in 2015 to establish professional and sustainable mountain bike events of a consistently high standard, catering for all levels of mountain bikers, whilst exposing them to the spectacular scenery and fascinating cultures of the Eastern Cape.
The Eastern Cape has some of the best mountain biking routes in South Africa.  The diversity of terrain offers remote mountain roads or twisting single forest lanes to test technical skills and anaerobic endurance. The aim is to develop iconic events on the National Mountain Bike calendar and to see the Eastern Cape becoming the preferred destination for mountain bike riders in South Africa.

The Saddle and Cleats Company offers professionally developed events that not only attract riders but foster good relationships within the local urban, rural and farming communities.

The development of the Saddle and Cleats Company brand was a great project for the OPENFORM design team - mostly sporting enthusiasts with a deep understanding of the lie of the land.  And the passion for the project is reflected in this note from owner, Lawrence Blane:  “What you have done for us is simply amazing!”  OPENFORM looks forward to the journey ahead as the Saddle and Cleats Company makes its mark in the mountains of the Eastern Cape.

LOBOLA

BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE

Most wines get their names in one of two different ways: they are either named for their grape variety (the grape that was used to make the wine) or they are named for the region of the world in which the wine was made. It is fitting, therefore, that the Eastern Cape’s only wine of origin producer – Harrison Hope, decided to label a wine to represent a custom depicting the people of the region… and appoint a leading Eastern Cape agency to conceptualise and design it – OPENFORM.
The hand drawn and rendered illustrations beautifully depict the Eastern Cape and the “bride-price” - better described as the custom aimed at bringing the two families together, developing mutual respect, and showing that a woman’s future husband is capable of financially supporting his wife.

Openform was proud to recently co-host the launch of the Lobola label at a recent Harrison Hope wine tasting evening held at The Venue, Hemingways.

ECSECC DISPERSES ITS MANY COLOURS

Like a prism disperses white light into its constituent spectral colours, so the recently evolved brand of Eastern Cape Socio Economic Consultative Council (ECSECC) best illustrates this multi-stakeholder body’s operations and the role it plays in the Eastern Cape socio economic landscape.

OPENFORM, proudly the marketing and communications agency to ECSECC (incorporating Eastern Cape AIDS Council), recently evolved the ECSECC brand to be more representative of this multi-faceted organisation and the many functions it fulfills in advising and assisting government and its partners to achieve an integrated development strategy for the province and its constituent regions in order to address socio-economic development, and in particular, the needs of deprived communities and underdeveloped areas.

OPENFORM is particularly proud to be partnering with this dynamic organisation in marking its 20th year of operations.

GO SHOP GOES GOLD

At the recent South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) Footprint Marketing Awards PRIMEDIA'S Vincent Park Shopping Centre won gold in the 'Advertising' category for its GO SHOP Campaign – conceptualised and developed by OPENFORM.

The awards recognise exceptional shopping centre marketing, innovation and creative achievements, with economic success. "We received a strong pack of enthusiastic entries, which reflects the esteem in which the awards are held by the industry. This year our international judges commended the entrants on the particularly high standard of entries. It is an excellent mark of retail marketing innovation and talent in South Africa," said Amanda Stops, SACSC CEO.

GO SHOP GOES GLOBAL Exciting news is that, for the first time this year, all SACSC Footprint Award Gold winners are automatically entered into the International Council of Shopping Centres' Solal Awards. "Strategy and objectives, creativity, implementation, cost-effectiveness and impact were all considered in the results. This year's winners were again judged to a global standard and can stand proud with top shopping campaigns worldwide," said Stops.

HOME OF CRAFT

One of the many interesting projects managed by the OPENFORM team during its tenure as marketing and communications service provider to The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) was the development, design and publishing of a coffee table catalogue-type book. Titled  "Home of Craft" with the objective of promoting the Eastern Cape craft producers and create markets for their product, is also an acknowledgement of the crafters’ contribution to the development of the quality of craft in the Eastern Cape.

A must for every Eastern Cape boardroom or coffee table.

VITAL BOOST TO LOCAL ECONOMY

Chairperson and founder of Siza Vitality, Mr Xolani Masiza who believes that the best investment in life is an investment in health, approached OPENFORM with the idea of developing a half-marathon event not only to capture the spirit of unity that running offers and promote good health but also to address the high unemployment in the Ndlambe area through, boosting tourism to the area.

From start - logo design, website development, entry forms and press releases, to the finishing line, OPENFORM worked tirelessly with the team from Siza Vitality to ensure that the Siza Vitality half-marathon that kicked off in Port Alfred in April was a resounding success.
This road running calendar event is destined to go from strength to strength and OPENFORM is proud to be associated with Siza Vitality - a new generation entrepreneurial business making a difference.
